NFUNGOTAH

Based in New Orleans, Louisiana Nfungotah Inc. is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to the survival, education, and promotion of music and dance culture rooted in the Africa Diaspora.  Nfungotah has been operating as an informal collective of artists for over 10 years yet was formally incorporated in September 2009. Since hurricane Katrina many artists have been physically and socially displaced. Nfungotah Inc. was founded with the vision of creating a place for grounding and stabilizing New Orleans artists working in African Diaspora arts, while also serving as a conduit for artists to meet, exchange, promote their work and find new audiences. We further our mission by collaborating local, national and international artists and arts institutions in conducting workshops/master classes, arts integration/after-school programs, touring engagements, lecture/demonstrations, cultural literacy and community mobilization projects.
